Bridge Over Blue - Feature Film Pitch
Blue Joy Films and Zero 1 Films have just completed an exciting new trailer. The 15-minute film will be used to raise funding for a feature version of ‘Bridge Over Blue’.
The trailer combines the award-winning talents of Director Edilberto Restino and DOP Tony Imi and stars Bridie Latona and Ed Cooper Clarke.

'Bridge Over Blue' Synopsis
A tale of love and art, 'Bridge Over Blue' follows the story of Josephine and Sam, two young art students and long time best friends.
Idealistic, full of wit and energy they find themselves disillusioned with the modern art world, although equally struggling to come up with original work themselves.
Under pressure from his father, a successful lawyer, Sam decides to change over to a law degree. Not realising that Josephine has long been in love with him he leaves her behind.
Six years later, Josephine has become a successful artist and Sam a lawyer. During a chance meeting unresolved tensions quickly flair and the meeting ends in a fight over their career choices. Through memories of college and childhood days Sam recalls Josephine's passion for life. They would spend their days philosophizing about the meaning of life and art and questioning post modern emptiness. Her unique ideas and free spirit were contagious. Inspiring Sam to take more risks and come out of his shell and the shadow of his father. Sam realizes he has constructed his life to please his Father and walks out of his job at a law firm. He also realizes he needs Josephine back in his life. Sam and Josephine meet up again in a gallery. He starts making fun of a room of plain blue canvass only to discover that the paintings are hers.
Josephine realizes she has lost her innocent idealism; not only for art but for the world. She is reminded of Adisa; a child from Africa she used to sponsor who she has never met. She decides she wants to find him. This leads them both on a dangerous journey in Africa full of discovery and culture.
In Africa they come face to face with the reality of the trauma and fear that some people face daily. After some success in helping aid landings; the aid is stolen by thieves. Josephine's heart is broken when Adisa suddenly contracts Malaria and dies. Soon after they are forced to leave due to an eruption of election violence. In her grief and guilt Josephine returns home to find herself in severe depression and insomnia and narrowly survives an accidental overdose of sleeping tablets. Through adversity they realize one of the things they were seeking was each other and a more mature love grows between them.
Josephine and Sam combine their talents to organise art exhibitions to raise money for echo friendly farming in Africa.
With the help of Sam's love and discovering her true artistic talent which comes from her heart and not her mind; Josephine reemerges stronger and wiser than before. She in return gives Sam the strength and belief in himself to stand up to his father and find his own way.
Despite this will Sam and Josephine forever be haunted by the blank canvas?
Bridge Over Blue - Sample scenes
INT. ART COLLEGE - DAY
JOSEPHINE and SAM, two young art students, are sitting at two blank canvases in an empty art room at their university. They are both contemplating their canvases.
JOSEPHINE
Do you know what they say a blank canvas is?
SAM
What?
JOSEPHINE
Tension.
They look at each other out the corner of their eyes and smile. They look back to their canvas.
JOSEPHINE (CONT'D)
To begin at the beginning.
SAM
I don't know what to paint.
JOSEPHINE
It's a modern art assignment; you
could probably just hand it in blank.
SAM
Brilliant. Finished!
JOSEPHINE
But then where's the fun in that?
(pause)
Let's have a race.
SAM
Right. OK let's just throw paint at it and come up with a concept afterwards. That's what they do isn't it?
JOSEPHINE
Maybe. Sometimes.
Alright. Paint brushes ready?
They both dip their paint brushes in paint.
JOSEPHINE (CONT'D)
One...two...three...go!
They both start madly painting, adding on different colors with slops of paint. Sam reaches over and slops a handful of paint on her canvas. Some lands on her lap. She keeps painting all over his hand. He wipes his hand all over her face. She keeps painting, pretending not to notice.
CUT TO:
A while later their canvas's are both a big mess of colour.
Sam sits up straight suddenly.
SAM
What's the time?
He looks up at the clock. He runs over to the sink and washes his hands and runs outside and down the stairs.
Josephine is left alone. She looks around. She stands back and studies Sam's canvas. She thinks for a moment and picks up her paintbrush and begins to paint the sentence in big letters 'I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART. BE MINE'. She stands back and looks at it.
She walks over to the window and looks out. She sees Sam talking to a teacher. She smiles as she watches him pretending to understand as the teacher talks excitedly with arms waving.
Suddenly a pretty and neatly dressed girl approaches Sam. The teacher leaves and the girl kisses Sam on the mouth. Josephine takes in a sharp intake of breath. Sam takes the girl's hand and leads her up the stairs leading to the art room.
Josephine runs over to Sam's canvas and quickly starts painting over her writing in black paint. She just covers it up as Sam comes through the door with the girl. She sits up straight quickly.
SAM (CONT'D)
(to the girl)
I'll just get my bag. Oh this is my best mate Jo.
(to Josephine)
Jo, I'd like you to meet Leena.
(jokingly)
She's doing a real degree down the hall.
Leena is pristinely dressed and neat. Josephine is covered in paint and her hair is tied up in a messy knot. Josephine smiles half heartedly.
JOSEPHINE
Hi.
SAM
Hey what did you do to my painting?
JOSEPHINE
Nothing.
